Code of conduct for firms taking part

What we would expect from participating firms, and what they can expect from us. These are draft terms and may change before introductions start.

Introductions have not started yet. These terms may change before they do.

What we expect from firms

  1. Reply to every introduction, including the ones you decline. A business owner who asked for an introduction should hear back either way. The time allowed for a reply will be set before introductions start.
  2. Keep your information accurate. Tell us only what your firm actually does: services, client size and type, sectors, software and permissions. Tell us when something changes.
  3. Tell us when you are full, so we stop showing your firm until you have space.
  4. Use owner details only for the introduction. Contact the owner about the work they asked about. Do not add them to marketing lists, pass their details on or use them for anything else without their agreement.
  5. No pressure selling. Explain what you would do and what it would cost, and let the owner decide in their own time. Do not push services they did not ask about.
  6. Tell us how it went, so we can see whether our matching works.

Members of a professional body also have that body's own rules. This code does not replace them.

What firms can expect from us

  • We show firms because their answers match what the owner needs, using the rules on our method page. Our rule is that payment does not change which firm we show.
  • Each introduction goes to one firm only. We do not sell the same owner's details to several firms.
  • We send only what the owner has agreed to share.
  • We tell you why your firm was shown.
  • If you think an introduction should not count, you can raise it under our draft disputes process.
  • If something we show about your firm is wrong, you can ask us to correct it.

If a firm does not follow the code

What we would do, for example pausing introductions to that firm, will be set before introductions start, together with how a firm can respond.
