How we work and match
How we are paid
Accountancy firms that take part pay us a fee for each introduction they accept. You do not pay us anything. This page explains what that payment changes and what it does not.
The short answer
Participating firms pay a fee for each introduction they accept. You never pay us. Our rule is that payment does not decide which firm we show you or in what order: firms are shown because they meet the most of the needs you gave us, using the rules on our method page. The fee has not been set yet, and these terms still need a regulatory review.
Who pays, and for what
- You: nothing. Using the form, seeing your result and asking for an introduction cost you nothing.
- Firms: a fee for each introduction they accept. Firms do not pay to be listed, and they cannot pay to be shown more often or higher up.
If you then take a firm on, you agree its fees with the firm directly. We are not part of that agreement.
Our rule: payment does not decide who you see
Our rule is that payment does not decide which firm we show you or in what order. Firms are shown because they meet the most of the needs you gave us, using the criteria on How our method works: first removing any firm that cannot do the work, then looking at sector experience, software and location.
A rule like this is only worth something if you can check it. That is why the matching rules are published on the method page. Two parts are not written yet: how we break ties between firms that meet the same number of criteria, and how far our panel reaches. Both will be set out on the method page before introductions start.
What payment does change
We want to be clear about the effect payment does have:
- Only participating firms can be shown as matches. A participating firm is one that has agreed to our terms, including the fee. So the firms you see come from our panel, not from every firm that could help you. If no participating firm matches your answers, we say so.
- We earn only when a firm accepts an introduction. That gives us a reason to make introductions firms want to accept. It is one reason we publish the matching rules and tell you what may not suit you about each firm.
Payment does not change your result. Your result comes only from your answers, before any firm is involved.
One firm at a time
Before anything is shared, we show you the firm's name and exactly which of your answers it will see. Each introduction goes to one firm at a time. Your details are not sold to several firms.
What is not decided yet
- The fee: how much firms pay for an accepted introduction has not been set. We will not guess at it here.
- Regulatory review: these terms have not yet had a regulatory review. They may change after it.
- Tie-breaks and panel reach: to be published on the method page before introductions start, as above.
We do not rate or score firms, and we do not check whether an accountant is competent, qualified or suitable for your business.
