# The Right Accountant

> The Right Accountant helps UK business owners work out what financial support they need, whether their current accountant provides it, and what to do next. Introductions to participating firms, only if the owner asks, have not started yet. It does not rate or score accountants, does not give tax or accounting advice, and payment from firms does not decide which firm is shown.

## What the site is
- Coming soon: A form that compares the finance support a business says it has with what a business of its size and situation may need, and suggests what to keep, what to ask its current accountant for, and what it may benefit from. Results are suggestions from the owner's answers, not verdicts.
- Coming soon: A directory of the 63,661 UK companies registered with accountancy activity codes (SIC 69201, 69202, 69203) on the Companies House register (54,295 trading), with size, ownership, age and a live filing record from Companies House. These are companies, not practices.
- Guides organised by situation: finding a first accountant, checking or changing an accountant, kinds of finance support, situations such as a lender wanting figures, and an online-selling lane.
- Draft standards of what a business of a given size may have, written from published guidance and not yet reviewed by a practising accountant.
- Two tools: a questions-to-ask builder and a "do I need management accounts?" check.
- Research on UK accountancy firms, with counts, denominators and limits stated on each page.

## What the site is not
- Not a rating, review or ranking site. Not a lead marketplace: an introduction goes to one firm, only with the owner's agreement.
- Not tax, accounting or legal advice.
